Fire Emblem: A Quest for Glory

Grima is dead. Valm has been liberated. Plegia lays nursing it's wounds. The Halidom is in a state of peace. But rarely does such peace last...-Athreon, Royal advisory to Exalt Chrom.

Twenty years of peace. The people are happy. They are pleased with their Exalt, who has led them with justice tempered by compassion, and his heir Lucina is growing to be much like him. But darkness begins to build in the lands once again

In Valm, a powerful magic wielder begins to take the continent once again, annexing what lands he can and conquering others. In Plegia, a powerful Warlord begins to build an army that could challenge the Halidom of Ylisse. To the north, Ferox suffers from tribal fighting and disunity, trouble that began shortly after the previous Khans' deaths. And alas, all this goes on beyond the knowledge of Ylisse, as the spys had long since ceased their duties, as an act of good will toward the various kingdoms. If only they returned that good will, and not closed of their borders to travelers who might have given some news to the Exalt, before it was too late.

Welcome to the Fire Emblem Roleplay, Act one: A Quest for Glory!

This roleplay, which is set in the Fire Emblem universe, is based on the events of the game, Fire Emblem: Awakening and is an interpretation of what might have happened during the years after.

Due to this fact, some of the lore had to be sacrificed, mainly the notes that roll during the credits, telling us how each person lived their lives. However, this is more or less the only lore that had to be changed, so the rest of the RP should restrain itself to the remaining boundaries set by lore.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Rules
1. Always obey the rules of the forum.
2. If a mod asks you to do something, do it.
3. All profiles are to be PMed to me, and in the correct format.
4. Literacy is an important part of the roleplay, as such please make sure you have a decent
comprehension of English spelling and grammar. Naturally, spelling and grammatical errors are understandable, but please make sure it is legible. Also, expect to write more than three sentences each post, and write in the third person.
5. Meta gaming is not tolerated. Do not have any characters use information you know, but they do not.
6. As the creator of the RP, I expect some respect. If you do not follow the rules of this roleplay, you will be warned. If you continue to break the rules, you will be removed from the roleplay and you character disposed of.
7. Please keep the roleplay clean. Language will be tolerated if it fits the character, but no Sully-mouths please. Please do not swear too often, or you will be warned to restrict it. No adult themes or references will be tolerated. If you don't know if it is accpetable, either send it to me or don't do it. I'd like to keep this clean, and appropriate for anybody who might join. Violance is understandable and will be tolerated, do not get graphic, however. Let's keep it at a PG-13 level, please.
8. As the GM of this RP, I reserve the right to interpret these rules, make new ones, and enforce currant ones.
9. You may not kill other PCs without their owners permission. You may not kill GM controlled enemies unless given permission.
10. Only GMs may control cannon characters, unless you are given permission by a GM.
11. All-dodging, god-modding, and so on are not allowed.*
12. Multiple characters are encouraged, however if having more than one characters decreases from your post quality notably, you will be asked to dispose of additional characters.
13. I reserve the right to refuse character profiles if I feel they are overpowered or inappropriate. If you are having trouble designing your character, contact me and I will do my best to help.
14. No rule alterations will immediately work to your detriment. However, they may immediately work to your benefit.
15. ALL OOC WILL TAKE PLACE IN THE OOC THREAD.
*If you are fighting, be reasonable. You cannot dodge every attack, although certain classes and individuals will be able to dodge more than most (Assassins, Tricksters). A mortal man cannot suffer a hundred wounds without dying, so on. Also, you may not state your actions having a direct effect on another PC, that is up to the person you are interacting with.*
Classes
These are the base classes that you may choose for your characters. Advanced classes will be added later.
Lord: A leader of Noble blood, the Lord can use a normal sword as skillfully as any soldier, but their true skill often lies in the use of a rapier. These men and woman are trained from birth to be the best leaders, and the best fighters. Wields swords and rapiers. Promotes into the Great Lord. One per Act, unless there is a special exception.
Tactician: A strategist upon whom the battle often hinges. Acts as advisor to the Lord on battle plans. Capable of mastering many aspects of combat, and has an affinity for magic, as well as skill with a blade. Wears little armor, however. Wields swords and tomes. Promotes into the Grandmaster. One per Act, unless there is a special exception.
Myrmidon: Men and women who train in the art of the blade, relying on speed and agility for defense, rather than armor. Wields swords. Promotes to either a Swordmaster or Assassin.
Fighter: Although very strong and durable, the Fighter wears next to no armor. Wields axes. Promotes to either a Hero or Warrior.
Archer: A man or woman skilled in the use of a bow. Particularly useful when fighting a flying enemy, due to their reaction time and range. However, they are useless in close quarters combat. Wields bows. Promotes to either a sniper or Bow Knight.
Cavalier: Well-rounded, mounted soldiers who’s speed and maneuverability are great assets on the field. Wields swords and lances. Promotes to either a Paladin or Great Knight.
Cleric (Female)/Priest (Male): Although unarmed and unarmored, the Cleric/Priest is invaluable on the battlefield, as they can use staves to heal their injured comrades. Wields staves. Promotes to either a Sage or a War Cleric/Monk.
Knight: Soldiers bearing heavy plate armor and huge shields. Incredibly hard to kill with physical weapons, they are however vulnerable to magical attacks. Wields lances. Promotes to either a General or Great Knight.
Mage: Having a natural affinity for magic, the mage can use tomes of different kinds to cast spells, such as throwing a fireball or calling down a lightning strike. They are equally capable in ranged or close quarters combat, although certain spells may cause collateral damage. They do not wear armor, and are not usually physically trained, so they are vulnerable to all kinds of damage, save magic. Wields tomes (Cannot use Dark Tomes). Promotes to either a Sage or Dark Knight.
Thief: Skillful rogues who specialize in stealth and lock picking. Can open doors or chests with ease. Wields knives and swords. Promotes to either an Assassin or Trickster.
Wyvern Rider: A man or woman riding a trained Wyvern. The primal cousin of the dragon has very tough skin and often wears some light plate armor and chainmail. Its rider wears some light plate armor and wields an axe, flying in close to deal punishing blows. Wields axes. Promotes to either a Wyvern Lord or a Griffon Rider.
Pegasus Knight: A class usually reserved for females, the Pegasus Knight is known for its speed and agility, often able to make an accurate strike with its lance before flying off before its target’s friends have a chance to react. Wields lances. Promotes to either a Falcon Knight or Dark Flyer.
Troubadour: Basically same as the Cleric/Priest, but mounted. Wields staves. Promotes to either a Valkyrie or War Cleric/Monk.
Dark Mage: A sinister magician with an affinity for the dark arts. This affinity has given them a protective aura, acting as a form of armor against physical attacks. However, they are not as resilient to magic as normal mages. Wields Tomes (including Dark Tomes). Promotes to either the sorcerer or
Special Classes:
These classes cannot be promoted, but can progressively become more efficient at what they do. This also gives them the opportunity to continually improve without making any great changes.
Manakete: A special race of beings that possess the ability to turn into dragons by using dragonstones. The type of dragonstone determines what type of dragon they turn into, the most common being the fire dragon. While in human form these beings possess no special traits, but their dragon forms are exceedingly powerful. They can easily be disabled if their dragonstone is taken from them. This race also has a very long lifespan, reaching upwards of six hundred years. Wields dragonstones.
*NOTE* :There are six types of Dragonstone.
Ice
Fire
Earth
Water
Air
Divine
Also, Manaketes choose how they age. A 2000 year old manakete may look 12, and a 22 year old manakete look 16.
Dancer: While not particularly skilled in combat, the dancer can perform special routines that raise their allies’ morale and push them to perform past their normal abilities. Wields swords.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Items

These are the items that will be included in the RP. Some may be added later.

Vulnerary: A potion that can heal small wounds.

Concoction: A potion that can heal heavy wounds.

Elixir: A potion that can bring a wounded soldier back from the brink of death.

Master Seal: A magical item that can be used to reach past ones normal limits. When a soldier reaches a certain point in his experience, he may activate this item to boost his abilities and magically attain new equipment to match his specialization. (e.g.: A Myrmidon uses a Master seal to become a swordsmaster and attains greater speed and agility, as well a second sword and shoulder armor.)

Second Seal: This magical item can be used to retrain one’s mind to another specialization, although it cannot account for natural skill. (e.g.: a swordsman uses a second seal to become a mage, but he will not have the same skill with magic as a naturally born mage and has to train much harder.)

You cannot start with anything more powerful than a vulnerary.
Each healing item has three uses, no more, no less.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Weapons
Weapons are treated in a unique way in this RP. Although weapons do not break after a certain number of uses (as they do in the game), the power of weapons is dependent on their type. For instance, a bronze sword will not be able to cut as well and will not be as balanced as a iron sword.
The four levels of weapons are as follows:
Bronze
Iron
Steel
Silver
Magic is handled slightly differently. There are four types of magic.
Fire
Thunder
Wind
Dark
The first three advance in power by their prefix. (Replace the name with whichever you desire, be it fire, wind, or thunder)
Fire
Elfire
Arcfire
The fourth level of each magic has it's own name.
Fire: Bologanone
Thunder: Thoron
Wind: Rexcaliber
Dark magic is handled differently. it does not have an ascending order of power, but rather each magic has it's own effect. (Had to add some affects for these)
Flux: A simple damaging Dark Magic spell.
Nosferatu: Drains the health of you enemies while bolstering your own.
Ruin: Causes the victim to feel sick and wearied. Drains the user.
Worm: A long-ranged damaging spell.
Note: Dark magic can only be used by Dark Mages and Sorcerers.
Staves are used in a smiler manner as far as more powerful versions go. The more powerful the stave, the more serious wounds it can heal. Some staves do not heal, but have other effects.
Heal: Base healing is equal to Vulnerary, increases in potency with the users magic power.
Mend: Base healing is equal to Concoction, increases in potency with the users magic power.
Recover: Base healing is equal to an Elixir.
Special Staves:
Physic: Same as heal, but range increases with the users magic power.
Catharsis: Same as Physic, but does healing equal to mend.
Hammerne: Can repair damaged equipment. Loses it's power after one use.
Rescue: Used as a teleport. Range increases with user's magic power.
You must be experienced in order to use each more powerful weapon, and if your experience will be determined by what point you join the RP. (If you join at the beginning, you will have to start with a bronze weapon, but if you join at the end, you may start with silver)
Countries
Fire Emblem: A Quest for Glory Irisco10
The Continent of Ylisse
The Halidom of Ylisse: Located in the South-East of the continent, the Halidom of Ylisse is ruled by Exalt Chrom and his wife, Sumia. It's capitol is Ylisstol. It is a nation mainly made up of farmers, though there are a few towns. It is currently the strongest faction militarily, as Chrom decided to boost it's armies after the Great War.
Ferox: Located to the North, Ferox was once the most powerful military on the continent. However, the Great War left it battered and bloodied, reducing its military to a fraction of what it was. It is ruled by two Khans, one in the East, and one in the West. Usually, one Khan serves under the other, based off of who wins a yearly tournament. However, after the deaths of the old Khans, the two sides split. Ever since, the country has been suffering from various tribal disputes and wars.
Plegia: Located in the South-West, Plegia was the main instigator of the Great War. Long have there been disputes between Plegia and the Halidom, especially after Chroms father led a series of "Crusades" against them, slaughtering men, women, and children alike. In an attempt to gain revenge against them, Plegia kidnapped and attempted to execute the current exalt, Chrom's sister, Emmryn. However, Emmryn chose to sacrifice herself instead, causing many of the men to rebel against the current king of Plegia, Gangrel. This allowed Chrom to lead his men against Gangrel, eventually killing him. Soon after, a new man rose to power, uniting the people. However, this man was perhaps more evil than Gangrel. He united the country into a single religion: the Grimleal, worshipers of the Dark Dragon. Eventually this led to his undoing, as Chrom once again stepped in to end his reign. Since then, a new man has rose to power in Plegia, a warlord who may just be able to unite the people against the Halidom once again.
Fire Emblem: A Quest for Glory Varm10
The continent of Valm
Valm: The Empire of Valm was decimated after Chrom destroyed their armies and their leader. A once might nation grew weak once again, having control over the northern parts only. With the South ruled by separate dynasties, all hope of being a super power washed away. That is, until a new leader rallied his men. Through a series of unbelievable victories, this magic wielding Emperor conquered several nearby opposing castles, ruled by lords and dukes who had no king. The remaining lords allied themselves with the Empire, hoping to avoid a crushing defeat. Valm is rising to power once more.
   Username: Athreon
   Name: Archron
   Class: Lord
   Gender: Male
   Age: 18
   Items: Bronze Sword, Rapier, 1 Vulnerary
   Personality: Archron is the kind of man who can be laughing and smiling one minute, and dead serious the next. However, he is only serious when he feels the situation demands it. In battle, Archron may act at times casual and confident, but on the inside he is examining every movement of his opponent and calculating the result of every move of his own. And, should he ever find himself fighting alongside someone, he would be just as concerned about his ally’s well being as his own, if not more so. Archron is a born leader, but has little experience in using his gift. Should he learn to lead effectively, he and his allies may just rival the splendor of the Shepherds of the Great War.
   History: Archron is the third child of Chrom, Exhalt of Ylisse, and Sumia, his wife. His arrival was surprising, as he was not one of the children who returned from the broken future during the Great War. They realized that this must be because he had never had the chance to be conceived, as they had both been called away in battle much of the time after Lucina and Cynthia had been born. This revelation only made the birth of Archron more joyous. As the boy grew, he trained in the art of swordsman ship and fencing daily, and took regular tactical classes under Athreon. He excelled at the combat lessons, but it was obvious that strategy was not his strongest point. It soon grew apparent, with every competitive sport he played and every team project that came up in his education, that he was a leader. Other children would look up to him and do whatever he wished them to do, be it large and important or small and overlooked. The result was often a Grade-A project or a victorious game. Nonetheless, Chrom knew that leading a group of children was very different than leading a group of soldiers. As the boy grew older, his desire to join the Shepherds grew with him. He became impatient, the only desire of his heart being to serve his Halidom as a Shepherd. It only grew worse as Lucina, and then Cynthia, joined the order, each on their twentieth birthday. As his eighteenth birthday approached, Archron made a plan. He couldn’t wait until his twentieth birthday to serve his country, not when he could serve them now. So, the day after his eighteenth birthday, he took his sword and left. Not running away, mind you, but more planning on doing something great for his country before returning. And so, his adventure began.
  Username: Niveksirrah
   Name: Leon
   Gender: Male
  Age: Age 20
   Class: Tactician
   Items: Bronze sword, Fire tome, 1 Vulnerary
   Personality: Shap and Kind. Leon has always been one to think before acting. He trusts quickly and forgives just as fast. He is witty and believes that everyone deserves a second chance. The only times he is truly harsh is when he is angered, few things bring him to this rage but when it does he tends to forget things like "restraint" Despite his thin and frail appearance he is rather well versed with both blades and magic and never shies away when he needs to use those skills.
   History: When he was a boy growing up in Ylisse he and his friends dreamed about being heroes like Chrome and his warriors. But while his friends wanted to be like The great Chrome, the mighty Vaike, The noble Fredrick or even the cunning Gaius. Leon wanted to be a Tactician like Athreon was. He studied the way of magic and the sword, as well as pouring over any books he could about Fighting tactics, even those wrote by Athreon during and after the war. As he grew older some of his friends went off chasing their dreams, joining the Army or going off to study magic. Some gave up and took up normal jobs like smiths and bakers. But Leon Kept to his studies in hopes that one day he could join the shepherds as there Tactician like Athreon. You should be careful what you wish for.
   Username: SilverLich
   Name: Tycho
   Gender: Male
  Age:32
   Class: Wyvern Rider
   Items: 1 Vulnerary, Bronze Axe
   Personality: Cautious, friendly to those who know him, cold to his enemies, Tycho is a man who at times prefers to let his skills and power speak for him. He's never been one for gods either, having nothing for disdain for them after seeing all the things people had done in Grima's name, in Naga's name, as such, he admires the way the Conqueror strove to have mankind take hold of its own destiny. He also has what could be described as a love-hate relationship with his Wyvern, Drasil. He and the Wyvern have their 'arguements', but it's their way of showing their respect and care for one another, most of the time at least. Despite letting their arguements occasionally slip into the battlefield, the pair are a terror on the battlefield.
   History: Growing up in Plegia, a nation that enforced the worship of Grima, did not help Tycho's perception of the gods in a good light in the slightest, growing up with the scars of the last exalts' war only beginning to heal left him with an ever lasting hate for the gods. He could not understand why one would allow this to happen, or why the other would even let it happen in the first place, were always a constant reminder to him of how the gods seemed only fit to bring about the evils of men. Despite this, he grudgingly joined the Grimleal, if only to assure his career in the military, and did his best to have as little to do with the cult at possible.
   By the time his training had begun though, King Gangrel was dead, the new war with Ylisse over, leaving Plegia to rebuild once again. When Validar took the throne though, that was all the incentive Tycho needed to leave Plegia despite his training having only just begun, a king from the ranks of the grimleal only meant men like Tycho would be held back, would suffer in way he had no intention of suffering. So he set out for Valm, what loyalty he still held for his country keeping him from going to the one that smashed it twice and the other which raided their coffers.
   It was during his time in Valm that he found a new man to follow, one who sought to break the hold that the gods held over mankind, Walhart. For two years he counted himself among the ranks of the Valmese, until Ylisse robbed him of the only man who held similar ideals, leaving him to eck out a temporary living in the many provinces that once made up the empire. When Grima was killed and the power the Grimleal once held shattered though, he returned home, feeling that he would finally be rid of one problem. The years went by, Plegia rebuilt itself, Tycho settled into the hope that he was done watching his country burn. But when men like him looked to their neighbors for problems, they did not expect the problem to be the likes of a warlord, who took control of Plegia and seemed just as likely to set himself up as the next Gangrel.
   Those that didn't join him fled, Tycho among them, eager to find a way to depose the man who seeks to bring ruin to their country. While they wait, Tycho and Drasil patrol the skies, looking for potential aid.
Fire Emblem: A Quest for Glory ArCher_by_deffectx
  Username: Zectorman
   Name: Victor "Vic"
   Gender: Male
  Age: 26
   Class: Archer
   Items: 1 Vulnerary, Bronze Bow
   Personality: Carefree is one word, enlightened another, but one thing is for certain Vic lives life in the now, not the past or future. He has a sarcastic form of humor, but it only rears it head when people start to get too worried or tense. He can be very mellow, and you might say that helps him keep his cool under pressure, able to hit his mark without flinching. Being from Ferox he is quick witted and knows who to and not to trust. His friends say he is pretty closed off and might not even care about them but nothing could be farther from the truth. Vic's friends get his guiding hand, able to keep situations light and not let his friends lose themselves. He does not beat around the bush when he speaks to you, though he rarely gets into serious conversation. A man of few words, but his words will be deep in meaning.
   History:
   A native of Ferox, though where in Ferox Vic will only say "Oh somewhere up north with trees" where he grew up with his family and kin. Learned how to hunt and hunt well, also learned how to be fast on his feat both Physically and mentally. He was happy then, more happy then he is now. Happy until he lost his parents and many family members to pointless conflicts that were common in his wild homeland. After seeking revenge and taking it in the form of quite literally hunting each of the members of the tribe that murderer his own, he fell into a nihilistic way of life for some years. Mercenary work, banditry, taking his place in the armies of his Khan; keeping himself occupied as to keep himself from relieving the deaths he experienced and caused. Eventually not even constant conflict or a good amount of drink could keep away the pain.
   His mind writhing in guilt and sorrow he fled back to his ancestral lands. There he found himself or so he says. Something to do with his family never truly being gone while they still lied within his heart and mind. Since then he has gone place to place, but mostly keeping to his homeland, using his skills to live off the land and trying to find a use for the skills he had developed through the years. No taste for a king's war, but will more than happily fight for a just cause for little or no pay. Though sometimes he will take a job when he is really strapped for cash. He will fight and kill quite coldly yet efficiently, almost machine like, with only a wink in your direction letting you know that he is on your side.
Class: Mage
Gender: Male
Age: 17
Items: Wind Tome, Vulnerary
Personality: He tries to come off as this handsome tough guy but under that facade is a kind, affectionate, and sensitive man. Tends to be in a permanent state of calm til he is insulted too many times or someone is wrongfully harmed in his presence. Has a strong sense of Fairness and Justice as well high intelligence but can sometime come off as a perfectionist or childish.
History: Orphaned at a young age, Lucas grew up at the orphanage ran by Libra. He spent most of his time playing with the other kids at the orphanage and reading books. Due to his androgynous appearance, he developed a small anger problem when people keep referring to him as a girl. Libra would tell him stories of the war and the time he spent traveling with Exalt Chrom and the Shepherds. He grew to admire Miriel and how she conducted herself  as well as her son Laurent. Hearing the tales made him long to go on an adventure of his own. He kept studying his books, dreaming of going on an adventure to fighting monsters and saving the kingdom. Little did he know, dreams do apparently come true.
He was about to be killed when a traveling Paladin saved him. Inspired, he asked him to teach him how to fight and has served in the city guard and guarding merchant caravans.
Username: PhilAO
Name: Alexander
Class: Myrmidon
Gender: Male
Age: 21
Items: Bronze sword, vulnerary
Personality: Brave or over-confident, depending on who you ask. It's pushed him through tough times, and also nearly been the death of him. Quick to anger. Often a show-off, and thinks he's a good deal more dashing than he is.
History: Born in the waning months of the last war, Alexander entered into a nation torn apart by conflict. Alexander was raised in chaotic post-war Plegia, luckily in a small town far enough away from major civilization to avoid both the major battles of the war, and the power struggles that followed it. His father was a tanner and spent no time with the boy, while his mother was very apathetic about raising him. His childhood was spent wandering his town amusing himself, getting involved in a few gangs, or what passed for them in his village, and turning most of the village's population against him. Alexander was dissatisfied with this life, and was quick to leave as soon as he was old enough to swing a sword, at the age of 15. He traveled the country doing odd jobs here and there and learning to fight on the way. At first it was just defending himself from highwaymen, but as time passed he began to find more profitable outlets for his talent for violence. He found himself doing mercenary work more and more, and by the time Alexander was 18 he had joined a prominent company. He bounced between a few of groups, his quick temper making his stays short. Still, there was always work for a blademaster in post-war Ylisse, company or no. He's operating independently at the moment, traveling through southern Ylisse looking for his next job.
Fire Emblem: A Quest for Glory Cleric
Username: SilverLich
Name: Sara
Class: Cleric
Gender: Female
Age:24
Items: 1 Vulnerary, Heal Staff
Personality: Motherly and caring, she tries to prevent fighting when possible, between her friends and in situations she believes can be resolved peacefully. She is not entirely against fighting though, and will do her best to support those she believes to be in the right. She hates to see people suffer, and will try her hardest to help people through whatever problem they have until it no longer troubles them.
History: Native to Ylisse, a lover of history, Sara has always been a bit of a bookworm even before she took up the staff. While many of the books she read concerned the wars of the past, she did not read them simply because of the tales they held of the heroes, but to try and understand why they were started and if they could have been averted. The recent wars with Plegia and Valm were subjects she delved into when she could better understand them, wanting to see if the pain that had been caused could have been avoided, the lives lost saved. While it would have been easy to become a soldier to solve future wars, she instead took up the staff of the healer, wanting to help people in ways no soldier could. She has traveled across Ylisse and Regna Ferox giving aid to those in need, and now seeks to travel to Plegia and Valm, to heal the wounds that have been inflicted on them by near constant war.
Username: Victor A Yorke
Name: Sebastian Trae
Class: Troubadour
Gender: Male
Age: 23
Items: Heal (staff), vuleranary
Personality:
Sebastian's motives are ultimately pacifistic. He uses his ability with healing staves so that he can travel the world in safety, but without making himself a target with the colours of a particular group. He prefers to be working to everyone's benefit, and is always happier without accepting the ugly necessity of learning to protect himself violently.
Some of Sebastian's former acquaintances have accused him of having a drink problem. Sebastian isn't actually addicted, and isn't drinking to dull the pain of anything he's aware of, he merely enjoys the concept of blowing must of his daily earnings on remarkable quantities of local wine. A somewhat high alcohol tolerence, a set of values that override mere intoxication and a general lack of anger for the rigours of ethanol to exascerbate all work to his advantage.
While usually easy to get along with, when working on a patient Sebastian becomes irritable and driven. He's a perfectionist when it comes to healing damage, preferring to completely articulate a damamged limb than leave it in a stable condition. The faintest scar is to him a clear sign of defeat, as bad as the direst of severed arteries. Having never seen the aftermath of a life-or-death conflict or worked actively in the field before, Sebastian is an unknown quantity for a military-grade partyy of adventurers.
History:
Sabastian was born to a moderately wealthy and upwardly mobile family whose business lay in breeding and rearing horses for non-military use. Sebastian grew up with horses, learning about their care and contributing to the stables complex alongside his parent's workers, while at the same time recieving a education slightly above the average for his family's level of affluence.
Sebastian, along with his brother, were raised as symbols of their parents' ever higher standards of living. They were earmarked as scholars, seen as a more respectable background to a merchant than being a horseman, and less pointed than uncompromisingly pushed in that direction. The older brother took the bait, immediately settling upon historically important but generally bypassed forms of magic, but the younger fought his parents at every turn. Eventually the parents won.
From the morning of his second day in an academy, Sebastian had consciously made himself responsible for his fellow students' wellbeing. Namely, by dragging friends from a street brawl every time one was knocked out or in real danger, then patching them up beyond their tutors' ability to tell anything had happened the following morning. Sebastian demonstrated in the course of his activites (both academic and extracurricular) an affinity for healing others, a clear head when faced with gruesome wounds, and a foul temper few actually expected of him.
Sebastian's training in magic is currently at the stage where he is expected to accrue a year's real-life experience. He has bought a horse (making sure it was one that originated in his family's stables, and that none of the money paid would actually reach them) and is making his way from village to village in search of injuries to undo. Although his tutors intended on their students settling down in a suitable village and making themselves indispensible for 12 months, Sebastian has maintained a nomadic existence and follows the work.
PostSubject: Re: Fire Emblem: A Quest for Glory   Fire Emblem: A Quest for Glory EmptySat Jul 06, 2013 8:36 pm
It was till dark outside, but the sun would be rising soon. When it did, it found a lone figure sitting at a desk, head resting on his hands. Before him lay a letter, one that he had found pinned to the outside of his son's door. It read as follows.
Dear father and mother,
I pray that you will find it in your hearts to forgive me for what I have done. If wake up to find this letter, I will have left late last night. I am not running away, and I do not mean to disrespect your rule by leaving. I simply wish to defend my country from bandits, as I believe is my right. You need not worry for my safety, I have my swords with me. I shall return to you, once I have done my country good. Please send my love and regards to my sisters.
With love and respect,
                          Archron
The man at the desk read the letter once more. The had found it the previous day's morning. Naturally, they sent Lord Fredrick the Wary and a search party out to find him. Nonetheless, the Exalt had mixed feelings about searching for his son. It would embarrass his child to no end, and wouldn't do wonders for public reputations, either. But it seemed that it was a moot point. They had been unable to find Archron so far, and the longer he was gone, the less likely it was that they would find him.
His thoughts were broken by the opening of his chamber door. He sat up and turned to see his wife walk in slowly. "Any news?" the woman shook her head. As she walked closer, she tripped and barely caught herself. Regaining her balance, she walked over to her husband. "I hope he's alright..." she said softly, tears beginning to form in her eyes. The man rose and embraced his wife. "Don't worry, my love. He is a brave young man. And he is a better swordsman than any of our recruits. He will be fine, Sumia, he will be fine..." Chrom furrowed his brow. If only the confidence in his voice could find its way to his heart.
~~~~~~~~~~
Archron

The 18 year-old young man walked cheerfully down the road. the swords at on his back and side felt light this morning. Though his stomach did growl as he walked. To his right was a lone apple tree, and it was the right season for the apples to be ripe. leaping up, he grabbed one off of a branch. Rubbing it off on his shirt, he happily took a large bite out of it. "Hey! You there!" The boy turned around at the sound of a rough voice. Before him stood two large, rough, and well armed men. The one who spoke looked at him and spat. "This here is OUR apple tree! You want an apple, you have to pay!" Archron blinked and swallowed before smiling and bowing his head in greeting. "My most sincere apologies, gentlemen. I had no idea this was your tree. What's the price?" The men looked at each other and grinned. "Three gold coins!" The one who hadn't spoken yet spat. The young lord raised his eyebrows. "Steep price. nonetheless, I shall pay." He pulled out his bag of coins and pulled out three gold coins, a small amount in comparison to the bag. The two men looked greedily at the loaded bag. "Actually, we'll take the whole bag." The boy laughed at the ridiculous demand. "Forgive me, my friends, but I need this money. And I do believe I have payed my price in full. Good day to you." Tossing the three gold coins before them, Archron turned around and began walking off. He stopped in his tracks once more at the sound of steel being drawn. "Heh, I'm afraid we've been misunderstood. We weren't asking." The boy smiled and turned around. "You don't want to do that." He said through a smile. "Give us the bag, now!" one of them men roared. Sighing the boy drew his rapier and took up a fencing stance. "It didn't have to be like this. Very well, have at you!"

Leon

Leon has had a run of bad luck, he thought that if he started traveling that he might be able to put some of his skills to the test, but alas he had hardly ran into anything more than a common thief in the past month. It truly was a time of peace. He sighed as he pulled out a book and started to read as he walked.
He nearly bumped into one of the large fellows, how he had not heard them yelling and shouting was any ones guess. He stopped a few inches away from one of the large fellows before he stopped. He looked up and saw the young lad with a thin blade drawn.
Hmm, Two large fellows cornering a young man. Young man has his sword drawn, A Rapier? Fast weapon and good at finding the joints of one's armor, moot against the unarmored foes but still deadly in the right hands. His eyes lit up as he snapped his book shut. Maybe this would be his big chance!
"I say are you in need of some help young sir?"

Archron

The boy smiled brightly at the newcomer. "Not necessarily, but your aid could certainly speed things along." The man whom the newcomer bumped into turned around and prodded him with the end of his axe. "Yew stay outa this!" He snapped back when he heard his friend, who had a sword drawn, cried out. He and Archron had crossed blades, the latter with his hand behind his back and a grin on his face. The stronger man pushed the boy away and swung down, hoping to split his skull. But when the blow fell, the boy was no longer there. He had leaped to the side, and swung the flat of his bade against the man's rump. With a yowl the man jumped away and swung around, but his blow was deflected once again by the youth. The other brute raised his axe, waiting for an opening to kill the boy.

Leon

He smiled, Bandits! Perfect! This was how all great adventures started! He smiled as he skipped back a few paces, outside the reach of the large one with the ax. He opened the book in his hand again and made a gesture. A ball of fire appeared on Leon's head and was sent on its deadly mission to smash into the Bandit.

The axe-wielding brigand was annoyed. The boy and his friend were constantly moving about, too quickly to be able to make a precise strike without wounding his comrade. He turned to late at the crackling sound behind him. A small fire ball burst into his shoulder, badly burning him and knocking him to the ground. He cried out and dropped his axe, gripping the wounded arm near the burn.

Archron

The brute with the sword continually attacked Archron, who easily dodged or deflected the strikes. The would-be thief was badly balanced and clumsy, hardly worth the boy's time. He would simply wait for an opening and finish this. And the opening came sooner than he expected. His new ally had used fire magic against the second man, causing a loud crackling sound. The man engaging Archron turned for a split second, time the youth used effectively. Dashing in close to the man, he grabbed his sword hild and bashed his own rapier's handle into his face. The man dropped his sword and fell to the ground, gingerly holding a bleeding jaw. The boy smiled and paced before the two fallen men. "Well now, I'm starting to think that wasn't actually your tree. And I so do dislike bandits." He crouched and leaned in close to the first man, the one who had spoken the most earlier. "But I'm feeling generous today. You may both leave with your lives, if not with your pride." Standing back up, he stuck the man's sword in the ground and picked up the axe. Holding it up, he motioned to them with it. "I am going to throw this axe in the air. If either of you are within my sight when it hits the ground, he will find this axe in his back. Good luck!" With the cheerful wish, he threw the axe into the air, hard as he could. Before the axe even reached it's peak, both men were gone. With a laugh, the boy turned to his new ally. "Well, that was easy. Thank you, by the way. Allow me to introduce myself. Prince Archron of the Halidom of Ylisse, son of Exalt Chrom, at your service," He announced with a flourishing bow, "Might I know your name and from where you hail?"

Leon

Leon watched with smug satisfaction as the two bandits ran off, he was slightly disappointed that it barely took any effort but then again he did at least get to put that fire spell to use. He turned to the young man who was now introducing himself, Prince of Ylisse? Ya right, maybe this guy was mad... Leon shrugged and sighed.
"You're the prince? That is somehow very doubtful."

Archron

After hearing the man's statement, Archron feigned hurt. "You would think me a liar, or worse, insane? I am wounded! Alas, that we live is such dark times as these, that a man would not trust the word of his ally, after fighting alongside one another, no less!" The boy could not help his mouth from twitching at the edges as he spoke dramatically. With a flourish he removed the sword belt that hung from his back and undid the knots that held the top half of his shirt together. holding open the shirt, he revealed young, but well toned muscles, attesting to his physical prowess. But it was not for his muscle that he opened his shirt. On the center of his chest was the Brand of the Exalt, a testament to his lineage. "See, and doubt no longer, my friend," the youth smiled broadly. As he began retying his shirt, he questioned the young man before him. "Well, I have given you my name and proven my lineage, will you not tell me your name? I will not demand any proof from you, worry not."

Leon

Leon stood for a moment as he watched the man undress his shirt. This guy was crazy.... And then he saw it, the Bran of the Exalt. His body went stiff and his jaw dropped. Uh oh... He quickly bowed.
"Beg your pardon your majesty! I thought... Well I didn't mean... What I mean is... Uh." He gulped once and straightened up, recovering his composure quickly.
"My name is Leon, I too hail from Ylisse. Though I have been Traveling this past year." A year nearly wasted too.

Archron

"A pleasure to make your acquaintance, Leon. And you can do away with the 'Your Majesty' bit. I am not Exalt yet, and I hope I never will be. Nay, Archron will do just fine. So, a fellow Ylissian? And a traveler, no less. I myself have just began my journey. And to be accosted by brigands on the second morning of my travel? A strange occurrence, so few thieves are left. Nonetheless, I came to this particular city because I heard some trouble might be started here. If this was all, I must confess that I will be disappointed. So, have you heard of anything of interest in these parts?"

Leon

Leon shook his head, spreading his hands in a shrug.
"Nothing more than you it would seem, I have been traveling for awhile and have found little a miss, a thief here or there and other minor offenses. These were the first Bandits I have seen in a long time. It would seem your Father the Exalt did quite a good job." He sighed and kicked the dust.
"I did just hear about something in the town just up the road, something 'Strange' going on. Or so the stories go at least. I'm on my way there to investigate it myself." He turned and looked in the direction that the two bandits ran.
"I get a strange feeling that we will be seeing those two again. Bandits always seem to have a big brother somewhere who controls more bandits and will come seeking revenge." He shrugged again.

Archron

"Perhaps, my friend, perhaps. But, if their allies are anything like those two, it shouldn't be a problem. Shall we investigate the town, Sir Leon?" With this proposition, Archron began walking toward the town. As he passed through the city gates, his attention was caught by some men surrounding a young girl. "Hey, let's go check that out," he called over his shoulder to his new friend.

~~~~~~~~~~
Mercenary Captain
"Well, well. No where left to run, eh, pretty one?" A tall man stood before the girl, a mercenary through and through. From the shield on his shoulder to the blade in his hand, it was obvious that battle was no stranger to this man. To his right was a barbarous looking man wearing little armor and gripping a hand axe. On his left, a somber fighter with a war axe resting on his shoulder. The mercenary raised his sword, lifting the girl's chin with it. "I can still remember their screams... as you drowned them in scalding water." his voice was melancholic, his eyes distant. He scowled and focused back on her. "I will make sure you suffer for killing them, you miserable creature. I'd kill you right now, if it weren't for the coin we were offered to bring you in chains."
She snorted as her head was tilted upwards by the mans blade."They deserved it. They were disgusting pigs, and so are you!" She spat in his face, quite literally. She swung her foot between the man's legs, then bolted for the nearest set of market stalls, not yet occupied by a vendor. She prayed that that distraction had been enough, else she'd had some blades sticking out of her momentarily.
Travis
Finally, they'd reached the town that morning. This particular merchant was one of, no, the worst he'd have to dealt yet. Fat, snobbish, self-obsessed, fat, and most annoyingly a derisive coward. He was no doubt selling himself as the savior of the caravan at some tavern somewhere. At least it was over now.
Then he saw what could only be ruffians chasing after a young woman. No rest for the weary.he thought as he spurred Snowstorm (his horse) in between the hunters and the hunted attempting to trip their leader with the butt of his lance. Addressing him with a sneer "Now, most people wouldn't get involved in...whatever this is. I've had a bad day however and am in no mood for games. Whatever the young lady did you surely don't need all this to settle your quarrel. Then again you all do look pretty pathetic as it is." He backed Snow up a bit to get out of the range of the ruffians sword his gaze returning to the flat glare of disapproval.
Vic
Vic had not be in the town for too long, in fact he never stayed in one place for more than a few days before moving on. He planned to make a move toward Plegia, considering how their were rumors of war on the horizon and it was a hot bed of activity. He figured he could find a good soul or two trying to make a stand over there, possibly worth his attention. But for now he was content sitting behind an empty stall eating the fruit wares as it would seem the proprietor was away. It was likely he was off gathering more of his stock or ran away from fear of the local bandit groups in town, not that Vic cared. Fruit was fruit, it was meant to be eaten, and it would be a shame if it went to waste because of the machinations of man. It was between his third or fourth apple and orange that the girl leaped into the stall next almost landing on top of him.
His mouth was full of a recent bite he had taken from an apple so the words he tried to speak came out as "mmphmmmfer?!" he swallowed the not so chewed up pieces much to his displeasure, a food should be savored. He gave the girl a cocked eyebrow and a look of bewilderment "You know it is not usual that people go jumping into other people's stalls" He wiped down his robe: nomadic garments, the checkered style colored red and black. and brushed his hair back with his hand in a sign of relief that he was not crushed by the unexpected arrival.
Leon
Leon fell into step to the Side of Archron, his mind filling with ideas. This was how it started! Now they just needed something to happen.
Fate seemed to be in a providing mood today as Archron noticed some guy messing with a woman not long after entering the town, why the town guards had not stepped in was anyones guess. The woman ran for it and seemed to fall into a merchant's stall. He started moving in that Direction but kept his eyes out for the Bandits if they were to give chase. Though now they seemed to be dealing with a Cavalier who had butted in between them. Things were getting more and more interesting by the moment. He would keep his eyes on the situation to see how it played out.
Archron
The young prince began to run after the woman struck one of the men and began to run. At almost the same time, a cavalier rode in an attempted to hit one of the men, the only one wearing much armor, with the butt of his lance. He succeeded in landing the blow, but the mercenary did not fall. He raised his blade to retaliate, as did his companions, but the cavalier back out of range. It was at this point Archron drew his blade and called out a challenge. "You there, swordsman! I do not care why you have assaulted this young woman, cease at once! I do not tolerate such things often, and I will not start now."
~~~~~~~~~~
Mercenary Captain

First the girl kicks him below the beltThat accursed horseman! The blow had almost knocked him off his feet, but experience allowed him to keep his balance. He would have chased after him and finished him off, but a shout from behind halted him. There stood two youths, both armed. One seemed to be just a normal boy in a strange cloak, but the other.... the mercenary recognized the other. He had seen him once when he did a job in Ylisstool. That was the prince himself. The man slowly lowered his sword and motioned for his allies to do the same. "Fine, fine. We don't want no trouble with royalty." He called back slowly. Indicating to his companions that they were to follow him, he walked carefully down the street, away from the group.

~~~~~~~~~~
Archron
The youth smiled with satisfaction as the three men walked away. "Well, that was easy," he chuckled to his companion. "Would you see if that girl is harmed? She shouldn't be, but it wouldn't hurt to make sure." Leaving his friend to check on the young woman, Archron approached the horseman. "Greetings, friend! Might I ask-" The boy stopped in his tracks and his expression changed from cheerful to shocked. "He knew I was royalty..."
~~~~~~~~~~

At that very moment a horn blew from down the street. There stood the three men and a fourth, a well armed and armored man riding a chestnut horse. Doors were thrown open and armed men left them, all along the street. A total of 12 men stood in the streets, six, including the horsemen and mercenaries, hung back while the remaining six charged forward. The two that hung back were both heavily armored and bore lances (knights). The six that charged forward were made up of two barbarians wielding axes, two fighters wielding the same, and two archers. One of these enemies bares a chest key that could be looted if he is defeated. Two groups were formed and attacked the group. Each group is composed of one fighter, one barbarian, and one archer. One group is attacking the prince and cavalier, the other is attacking the fruit stand with the intent of taking the girl.

~~~~~~~~~~
Barlon
The leader of the city gang smiled as he patted his horse's head. This battle should be easy. "So, young princeling, you think you can attack two of my men and get away with it?"
She shook her head at the stranger next to her. More of them! She turned tail and fled, moving behind the stalls, trying her hardest to stay out of the bandits line-of-sight, and hopefully escape into some backstreet. As it stood, this was looking to get ugly,as several more appeared, addressing the more finely clad man. After this, she swore to never visit a village again...the first one she ever visits, and a battle breaks out...right. Violence seemed very common among humans...at least from what she saw.
Victor was a bit disappointing, he liked conversation and almost being crushed was a good conversation starter. The look she gave him seemed to say something between "Oh gods not another" and "Get lost". Vic shrugged as she made her way to the next stall over, he took another bite of the apple but then started to notice the ruckus coming from the main square. Taking a peek over the top of the stall he glimpsed the scene.
A good number of armed men threatening what looked like a noble, a horseman of lower birth from the common armor he wore, and a educated looking man from the robes he wore. That's a bit unfair thought Vic seemingly un-phased by what was taking place. He sighed some though, he had overheard the conversation with the ruffians that were harassing the girl earlier. They defended her, though she seemed not to care, as she did not come out to thank them opting not to trust anyone it would seem. His inner creed cried out to him to intervene some, considering how outnumbered they were.
He rose from the stall, stretching like a man who had just woken up from a nap, and picked up his bow which was propped next to his leg. He picked his first target, a barbarian from the look of the nasty axe he carried and took a well aimed shot. Once it was loosed he reached up to his quiver to grab another arrow, once he did he proceeded to wave and smile at the lord.
Travis
It was official today was a terrible day. He spurred Snow forward replacing his lance with his sword. Charging the warrior nearest him turning into a vertical slash as he got into range.
Leon
Everything happened like clockwork, Bandits by nature were cowards and weaklings that used big talk and big numbers to bully kinder, gentler folk. So they always had an extended family of sorts. However even in numbers they were indeed still weaklings. He hopped a little show of force would make them surrender but something deep down in his gut said otherwise. Few of the texts he had read ever mentioned bandits surrendering in mass, he would be surprised if even one was left, well unless it was a disgruntled bandit, maybe someone who had taken it up to pay for a loved one or... Oh yes the fight
He shook his head and snapped back to attention on the here and now, taking in everything. The relative strengths and weaknesses of the units charging them, their formation, and the arrival of not only a cavalier but what seemed to be an archer as well. He tried to signal the Cavlier
"You there! Horse man! Circle around the fighters and strike their archers!" He turned to the man in the stalls
"Archer, pick your shots and take them out when you can but don't draw them to you." And finally to the lord standing near him.
"Shall we have a bit of fun?" He said as he drew his own broadsword. Charging right down the center line. He would have preferred to use his magic but he was also well skilled with the blade, and if he hung back that would leave to much pressure on Archron and the Cavalier.
Archron
His worst fears were confirmed as the men grouped together and charged them. He was lucky that he had allies; had things gone according to plan he would be on his own right now. He sheathed his rapier and drew his bronze blade, its rigidity would come in handy while fighting the axemen. His cavalier ally had already charged forward into the fray, and now Leon stood by the prince's side. Before Archron could say anything, the traveler charged forward as well, bearing a sword as well. So, he could use both magic and blades alike. A useful ally indeed. As Archron charged forward himself, he noticed a dangerous fact. They had a fourth ally, and archer, waving to him from a fruit stand. Nearby, one of the groups of soldiers charged toward him. Refocusing on his own battle, Archron engaged the fighter as the cavalier attacked the barbarian. The axeman swung his weapon in an overhead swing, and as Archron brought up his blade to block it he called out to Leon. "We have this group covered, go help the archer!"
~~~~~~~~~~

The barbarian that had been attacked by Travis was just barely able to avoid the slash as he swung his war axe at the man's torso, and his archer ally fired an arrow at the horse's flank.
The other three men charged the fruit stand. The arrow fired by Victor was almost avoided, but the aim was accurate enough that it pierced the barbarian's shoulder nonetheless. With a cry he stumbled before regaining his balance, and charged the stand in a rage, though his strength would fail soon. The fighter made was closer to the stand, raising his axe in preparation of the attack. The archer began firing arrows at the stand, hoping to keep his head down.

Esria

She watched from around the corner of the building she was hiding behind as the humans engaged each other, then sighed. She grasped her dragonstone, briefly debating whether getting involved would be a good idea.No...she would wait and see how it panned out before she made a move against the brigands. besides, they seemed to have it under control...for now.
