Mass Effect: Terminus Empty
PostSubject: Mass Effect: Terminus   Mass Effect: Terminus EmptyTue Oct 01, 2013 8:48 pm

In the year 2148, explorers on Mars discovered the remains of an ancient spacefaring civilization. In the decades that followed, these mysterious artifacts revealed startling new technologies, enabling travel to the furthest stars. The basis for this incredible technology was a force that controlled the very fabric of space and time. They called it the greatest discovery in human history. The civilizations of the galaxy call it...

Mass Effect: Terminus Mass_effect__logo_by_anubis600-d51al49

It has been close to five years since the battle of the Crucible and many of the relays have finally been reestablished, linking the galaxy together once more. Large relief efforts went galaxy wide, the destruction and death immeasurable. But hope shines from the unity created though the war, all races working as one for the benefit of all, the rebirth of a new Krogan people, and an end to old prejudices....for citadel space that is.

The Terminus Systems. One of the last to be reconnected to the rest of the Galaxy. What they found was disturbing though. Large power vacuums had formed in the destruction of most of the Batarian Hegemony and the collapse of any sort of law coming from Citadel Space. Warlords, gangs, and Pirates were all that could guarantee you lived or did not become a slave. The only law, was the law of power.

Now Terminus is unleashed . No one could have predicted the backlash of poverty, death and destruction that would result from years of solitude. The desperate culture bred in places like Omega has become predominate throughout there sectors. This breed of criminals now spreads like a disease, taking adavantage of all the desperate people's throughout the galaxy, looking to recover what they had lost in the Reaper war. Men and women whispering false promises in return for all they have.
imagine the power/land grab of the chaos left behind after the reaper war.

New governments, gangs, self-made kings and warlords
And now pirate crew, trying to take a piece of the galactic cake.
Of course that entails much more than you could realize..........

---------------------------------------------------------

Welcome to the lore and adventure rich world of Mass Effect!
This is a RP set 5 years after the events at the end of Mass Effect 3. I personally disliked the choices available to you at the end of Mass effect 3 so i made some changes. Shepard destroyed the Reapers, but this did not destroy all synthetics. The story assumes that all Shepard's choices were Paragon, aside from the Reapers destruction.

This RP will be Co-GM'd by me and Niveksirrah. The cast will be that of a Pirate crew, taking on challenges presented by the world, or missions given. (These missions can come in the form of anything : from suggestions by the crew or a random occurrence while traversing a planet or through space itself.)

---------------------------------------------------------

RULES: OBEY

1. Always obey the rules of the forum.

2. If a mod asks you to do something, do it.

3. All profiles are to be PMed to me, and in the correct format.

4. Literacy is an important part of the roleplay, as such please make sure you have a decent
comprehension of English spelling and grammar. Naturally, spelling and grammatical errors are understandable, but please make sure it is legible. Also, expect to write more than three sentences each post.

5. Meta gaming is not tolerated. Do not have any characters use information you know, but they do not.

6. As the creator of the RP, I expect some respect. If you do not follow the rules of this roleplay, you will be warned. If you continue to break the rules, you will be removed from the roleplay and you character disposed of.

7. This is a genre with Mature theme but I expect role players to have good tastes in terms of what you say or write. I am tolerant of language and mature acts but let's not let this turn into a Call of Duty lobby with kids spewing forth all sorts of curse words and comments about eachothers family. This is Rated M, but let's act like adults.

8. As the GM of this RP, I reserve the right to interpret these rules, make new ones, and enforce currant ones.

9. You may not kill other PCs without their owners permission. You may not kill GM controlled enemies unless given permission.

10. Only GMs may control cannon characters, unless you are given permission by a GM.

11. All-dodging, god-modding, and so on are not allowed.*

12. Multiple characters are fine, however if having more than one characters decreases from your post quality notably, you will be asked to dispose of additional characters.

13. I reserve the right to refuse character profiles if I feel they are overpowered or inappropriate. If you are having trouble designing your character, contact me and I will do my best to help.

14. No rule alterations will immediately work to your detriment. However, they may immediately work to your benefit.

15. ALL OOC WILL TAKE PLACE IN THE OOC THREAD.

*Biotic and tech powers can help you but lets not abuse them to a point where you are invincible and or blowing up people with just a flick of the wrist. Ill be keeping an eye on this, so will Niv.

If you do not abide the rules I will ASSUME DIRECT CONTROL.....Also, people who fail to post in a reasonable amount of time and have been asked to do so multiple times are liable to be killed off. I do not want this RP to stagnate.
---------------------------------------------------------

Classes/Profession

We will be using the classes provided to us by the multiplayer* and single player versions of the game, from Mass Effect 3. Of course let these serve as a template, do not feel obligated to feel constrained to those outlines. I am ok with modifications to classes as long as they are believable and stay true to the character idea. But I WILL NOT accept classes that are overtly over powered. Powers and tech abilities will be monitored by the GMs. These characters are supposed to be dangerous individuals, not recruits out of the academy, but you wil lnot be allowed to have tons of powers and abilities. Only a small set of four and one Special ability unique to ech character of your own choosing or creation (I encourage a unique character created special ability but please run the idea by me first before putting it in the profile)

Class list/ideas :http://masseffect.wikia.com/wiki/Mass_Effect_3_Multiplayer/Character_Customization

---------------------------------------------------------

Equipment

Equipment includes specific armor types you'd like to mention, any non-ballistic gear and most importantly Weaponry. Weapons will be handle by a tier list. Players will be given a set amount of points to spend in the beginning of the RP to limit the number and level of weaponry they will have available to them. Weapons can be bought after missions or found on them if certain events are fulfilled...(SECRET SIDE STUFF XD)

Base Class starting point list: (Unique classes discuss with the GMs)
(Each tier of weapon is equivalent to its point cost)
soldiers 5 points
adepts 2
engineers 3
Vanguards 3
Sentinels 3
Infiltrators 4

Profile Building

Setting

This story will mostly take place in the chaotic Terminus systems. The famed Omega, and the lost Batarian home worlds, the Economic powerhouse of the Illium, the home world of the Quairans and Geth, Rannoch! Most if not all these places are beset by numerous problems and fighting to survive the uncertainty and chaos left over by the Reapers. MAny mysterys await in the what is left over from the war....

Races

All races are available to you! Aside from obvious exceptions: No reapers...(I really hope i didnt need to say that) No Collectors either! I don't thnik the galaxy is entirely ready for them. No Yahgs either. Some races are questionable, and you will need to run by me your reasons for wanting to play them (notably races like Geth, Hanar, and Volus) Since it will be harder for you to rp as them for combat or social reasons.

Mass Effect: Terminus Empty
PostSubject: Re: Mass Effect: Terminus   Mass Effect: Terminus EmptyThu Oct 03, 2013 7:11 pm

Elvis Rioth

He was stamping his foot from his own impatient demeanor. His eyes scanning left and right, reading every piece of Intel as it came in: every guard change, every new prisoner, every time the warden went outside to take a piss and shook it. Every detail he could scrounge in just a couple of days since the ...failure. He was going to let her rot in the pathetic excuse for a jail, but he did make it out with enough EZO to pay for the junker....So he owed her...not to mention she knew he still lived and he did not an angry pissed off Asari holding a grudge just in case she escaped on her own.

Normally the best laid plans are ones that the target did not even know happened. But he was in a rush, the people who captured her would probably move her to a better facility if he did not act immediately, or worse the boss man might make a personal stop and crucify her for information on where he was. So it took him two days: 1 to come up with a rudimentary plan...that lacked in some areas. And another to assemble something resembling a team.  Taking what funds were left from the last job he bought two shuttles and payed the two men behind him. Took him 12 hours to rig one shuttle, automated pilot with a set destination. The other he was piloting himself. Hard to keep it all steady though, he was not known for his flying capabilities.

They were coming upon the planet, and their destination rather quickly. Speed was the key. He turned on the intercom to speak with the Turian and the Batarian in the back, "Now, I know I did not tell you too many details. But here is what you need to know. This is a smash and grab. We go in, grab the target, and get out. If all goes to plan or whatever this passes for we should  make it out without too much difficultly. Speed and efficiency gentlemen. Speed. And. Efficiency. Also, think of this as a practice run for a job opportunity! Just more legality involved!" he chuckled as he cut the coms.

The sun was rising over the hot, swampy atmosphere, not actually a bad place for a prison. You were more likely to die in the swamp than in the prison. As least the food in their wouldn't try to eat you. He was thankful that the staff was smaller than most. After Purgatory's destruction many of these smaller prisons sprung up to take up the slack left over. The target was nearing, as the other shuttle zoomed on ahead he switch the coms on again, "Oh and I would want to buckle up..." He grinned his teeth together in murderous excitement. Maybe the best plans were the loudest after all.

PostSubject: Re: Mass Effect: Terminus   Mass Effect: Terminus EmptyThu Oct 03, 2013 7:16 pm

Kiares
As far as prisons go, this was a pretty calm one. For the moment, at least.
During this calm before the storm, here was an asari sitting in a small cell. A cell too small for her to lie down full length, not that it even included something as luxurious as a bed. Or a mat. Or anything aside from a toilet.

So the asari just sat there cross legged, her calm posture clashing with the heavy set of anti-biotic shackles trapping both her hands. Also clashing, primarily with the broad conception of asari, was this one’s body. While a certain grace all asari supposedly possessed was present, her body would be better fit for a human body builder. Bulging muscles adorned her arms, giving the impression of someone who could easily break bones. Her neck showed clear signs of physical labour including the lifting of heavy objects, as did her legs, and the filthy prison gown she was wearing hid a proud six pack.
Crowning this mass of strength was a face betraying little emotion, aside from dismissive annoyance.

Suddenly, the asari raised her arms, raising them to strike…

…and banged her heavily shackled hands against the wall to her left, calling out:
“Anyone there?”

A cold silence was her only response at first, but the shuffling of someone moving against the wall could be heard, faintly, after a moment.
“...yes?”

The voice was slightly strange sounding, though that might be the echo from the walls. Most likely from a male speaker.

“Speak up, they won't incarcerate you any more for disturbing the peace.” The asari snapped harshly.

A short chuckle could be heard, still sounding like his voice had some kind of buzz to it.
“I suppose you're right about that. Not much more they can do beyond throw us in solitary, or not feed me again.”

The asari shrugged, unimpressed . “Food is overrated anyway. So, what are you in for?”

He chuckled again.
“I suppose some of the new warlords around this area don't like being talked back to. They also seem to frown on having someone break in and steal one of their shuttles. I mean come on, he had like four. Didn't think he would miss one...
Of course, that's what they caught me with...”

“Good, so you apparently suck at breaking into places.” She commented matter of factly “How are you with breaking out of places?”

“If I had my omni-tool? I could walk out of here before dinner without anyone finding me. Without it? Well.... I'm weighing my options. Big enough distraction and I could have these cells open pretty quickly... would need to be one hell of a distraction though.”

“That’s sufficient. Are you able to defend yourself, or would I need to play shepherd in case of trouble?”

“I don't tend on drawing a lot of folks to myself, but if I got into a jam I can get myself out thank you very much.” he said with a slight scoff.

“Good. Then listen carefully, because I am only making this offer once. When the opportunity presents itself and at least one of us gets out of these cells, you open every damn door you can in this joint. In exchange, I'll ensure that you get out of this jam with as little damage as possible, and get you a ride off planet as well. You up for that?”

*more silence*

After a long moment he spoke up again:
“Agreed, I can handle that without a problem.”

Satisfied, the asari said:
“Good. You know, I like people who have confidence in their skills, are straight to the point, and I'd hate for this vacation to be a total waste. You're heading anywhere specific?

He laughed at that, and for the first time it felt like a real laugh, though it had an undertone of pain.
“No, I go where the money is, and then where that money can take me.”

“A pragmatic. This just keeps getting better and better. Want a job?” It was hard to discern if she was being sarcastic, especially through a wall.

“Depends on the job, the last one offered didn't end so well you see. But hey, if it pays decent and gets me off this rock I'll take it.”

“Getting you of this rock is guaranteed, the pay depends on your performance.”

“Oh? Well then I won't disappoint you.” he said with a rather cocky attitude.

She snorted:
“Just keep your confidence in check. The last overly confident guy I had is now serving as a krogan toothpick. You do NOT want to end up as a krogan toothpick.”

“Yeah yeah...“ he said with a slight brush off in his voice. “So, why are you here?”

Dispassionately, she replied:
“Resisting arrest, disturbing the peace, aggravated assault, possession of stolen goods, piracy, smuggling, libelling officials, theft, murder on base motives, contempt of court. Take your pick. Don't know which of those have past the statute of limitations.”

“... Normally I would call that boasting, but from the tone of your voice it sounds more like mere facts.” he sighed “So they caught you on all those things? Quite the trail you leave behind....huh, never did get your name.”

After a light chuckle, she commented:
“I'd be surprised if those grunts even know the half of it, some of that happened before they were born. Name's Kiares. Yours?

“You must have been at this for quite a while then, I'm Ken'Ara. Most just call me Ken though.”

“As far as my species goes, it hasn't been that long. I just started early. But we don't know each other well enough for the full story, Ken.”

“Heh, Yeah I suppose not Kiares. I suppose not...”

Eerie silence filled the cells…

Mass Effect: Terminus Empty
PostSubject: Re: Mass Effect: Terminus   Mass Effect: Terminus EmptyThu Oct 03, 2013 7:47 pm

Gerard Kalgard

Stale air rumbled through the worn vents, creeping their way into Gerard’s confines. He inhaled with the same absent breathing he had become accustomed to after spending countless days penned up. The scent of rust and waste did nothing to make him cringe; these smells were the olfactory equivalent of background noise to him – always present but never really acknowledged.

Monotony was the law in this prison. Two small morsels a day were slipped into the cell every twelve hours (Gerard didn't know what type of food he was actually eating), and lights were killed at 22:00 each day. Aside from that, the prisoners had only the depths of their imaginations to keep them occupied. Not much concern was given to the prisoners' physical health, much less their mental state. There were times when Gerard thought of tearing off his shirt, tying it around his neck, and pulling until there was no hope of wresting it off again. Perhaps it was the fear that it wouldn't work or simple self-preservation instincts that kept him from doing so, but either way, the notion served as nothing other than a fleeting fantasy.

Each day, the sounds of metallic footsteps could be heard clamoring outside the cell. The only break in the typical patrols came when a prisoner was being escorted to and from cells, at which point the number of steps doubled. Though a nuisance he tried to ignore, these interventions were a constant reminder of the ultimate fate Gerard faced. One day he would be sold to some upstart gang in need of a tech expert to hack encrypted information and sabotage machinery or the warden's own engineer would keel over and he'll be the next in line. Either way, it was not a moment he looked forward to. Tech experts were in high demand, but low supply. In all likelihood, this could be blamed on the Vorcha. The vermin were used as cheap extra muscle by everyone from the Batarians to the Krogan.

Trigger happy bastards have the discretion of varren, he thought.

It was true enough that the Vorcha were all too eager to blast anyone they caught in their sights, including unarmed and potentially valuable engineers. Gerard figured that this was driving up the price for the select few who remained, and this was driving away potential buyers. Human trafficking was expensive enough for petty thugs to get anything worth value. Bump up the market value for a particular type and nobody but the big players -- the ones who were careful to keep their tech experts protected anyway -- could afford them. This would also account for the gradual increase in security. He could swear he heard more boots every week. That, or he was slowly going insane, which wasn't totally out of the realm of possibility.

Not too pleased with the prospects of being a slave or being shot at/beat down/mind vaporized/incinerated, he decided that every day he spent in his cell was another day he continued to draw breath. His prison became his purgatory. Here he would examine his conscious, reviewing his life over and over again, prodding over every agonizing mistake and misstep that led him to this place until the day comes when he is cast out into the fire. From here, there could be no paradise. Cerberus wouldn't come for him. The Alliance would not come for him. He had accepted that this was all he had to look forward to for the rest of his brief, miserable existence. He slammed his fist against the door, earning him a shot of acute pain through his hand. Good. Pain was his reality now. The best thing he could do is get used to it.

PostSubject: Re: Mass Effect: Terminus   Mass Effect: Terminus EmptyThu Oct 03, 2013 7:55 pm

Fehln Davris

Unexpected was perhaps the simplest word that could be used to describe his situation. Normally Fehln was delivering targets to places like this to collect his pay, now he was being paid to break them out. Not like he was going to argue with it though, he hadn't had a good paying job in quite some time and he needed the money to get back on his feet. He had been forced to sell his rifle just to be able to have enough money to be ready for later, and was hating the lack of a rifle on his person, all he was his pistol and sub machine gun.

He had spent the entire trip making sure they were ready, going over the two weapons again and again, taking them apart to make sure there would be no complications from them and rebuilding them at least twice, bringing the phalanx to his good eye and aiming it at the wall of the shuttle. Spirits the lack of a scope on this thing wasn't right, but once things picked back up, he'd be a hunter once again.

The salarian that had hired him and the batarian he shared the shuttle with spoke over the intercom, finally giving them some more details to their mission. This was going to be quick if things went all according to plan, which he would normally agree with were it not for the fact that there was no real preparation. But Fehln would simply have to adapt, if he couldn't how could he call himself a hunter? He strapped in at the Salarians words, holstering his smg while he aimed his pistol at the door of the shuttle.

He closed his good eye and began adjusting the scope on his scarred one until the settings were to his liking, looking down the sights at the door for a moment before lowering his pistol. Should have bought a scope for this thing before I left, would have made my focus even more accurate.

PostSubject: Re: Mass Effect: Terminus   Mass Effect: Terminus EmptyThu Oct 03, 2013 8:28 pm

Kayne

A lean, pale-complected human sat alone, hunched in the corner of his cell. He sat motionlessly, entirely silent, messy black hair strewn about over a white face. Deep, unnatural-tinted crimson eyes peered emotionlessly through tiny gaps in his ebony hair, gazing in no particular direction. His mind was clear, fluid; Motionless and relaxed but ready to pour into action at a moment's notice. Biotic-suppressing shackled wrists rested atop and around his knees, pulled against his compact form in the corner.

Had his thoughts composed anything other than entirely focus, he would have perhaps inwardly brooded over the circumstances surrounding the situation. Flying a ship through a sector infested with pirates, attacked by pirates, and then, for killing said pirates, arrested by other pirates. It was all rather nonsensical. He, the pinnacle of human potential and the future of sentient life, placed in a metal box by criminals.

But none of these thoughts were in his mind. The pale, slender-framed man in the corner thought only of one thing: Escape. He had been waiting patiently, and would continue to do so. No emotion or anxiety would cloud his mind or dull his judgement. These weaknesses were foreign to him. The moment an opportunity presented itself, he would make his move. If the shackles could be removed, he would not even need his armor. Although as he intended to hide in the swamps until a ship became vulnerable to seizure, his equipment would certainly prove useful against the local wildlife.

Sitting in silence in the corner of his cell, naked without his armor, naked without the biotic thrum of his essence heeding his call, he waited. His time would come.

Mass Effect: Terminus Empty
PostSubject: Re: Mass Effect: Terminus   Mass Effect: Terminus EmptyThu Oct 03, 2013 11:07 pm

Sashryn Velentor

Stupid, thought the young woman as she was marched down the prison hallways, stupid of me to trust that backstabbing son of a Reaper. Should have never gone back to that God-forsaken planet.

The planet had been Illium, her homeworld. She would have never gone back, if it hadn't been for the amount of cash she was promised. It was a simple job, too, and that infuriated her all the more. Go to the planet, snipe a wealthy and influential merchant, get her pay, and leave. Everything had seemed to go according to plan at first. She met with the client remotely, he told her where the target would be and when, and where he would be most vulnerable. She wished that she had asked some questions before taking the job, but in her line of business, you didn't ask questions.

When she was in the position of her choice, an old apartment complex, she lined up her shot. But the places in his security that she was promised were the weakest, were instead the strongest. Realizing that something was wrong, Sashryn quickly packed her equipment and began to leave the building. Unfortunately, she turned a corner right into the face of a security officer. She turned to run, but three more came up behind her, lead by the man who turned out to be her client. With a cruel grin, the man confessed that he had set her up. He actually worked for the merchant, and had been hired to weed out potential threats by setting up a bounty. Left with no choice, Sashryn surrendered.

And now she was here, in a remote prison where she most likely awaited execution. Sashryn walked between two guards, her slight build accentuated by their fully armored bodies. Each step echoed through the room, and the loud clanking of their equipment was grating on the ears.

Finally they reached their destination. A series of doors lined up in a row that seemed to go on forever. She must have spent to long a time looking, because the guard behind her shoved Sashryn forward with the butt of his gun. Falling back into step, the assassin continued to look around the room for anything that could be useful. Nothing. Besides, it wouldn't do her much good when she was inside her cell, which the had now come up upon. After opening the door, the guard pushed her into the tiny cell and closed it, shutting Sashryn off from the outside world indefinitely.

The young woman brushed back a stray red hair that had fallen into her face and looked around the room. Nothing, save a toilet. As she comprehended the situation she was in, panic threatened to overcome Sashryn.

Just... just calm down. There is still a chance to get out of here. If I can manage to get out of this cell-
Then what? You're going to right your way out? You know that you're no fighter.
Well, maybe I could sneak out-
Sneak? Please, this place is full of soldiers who would probably love to kill you if they had the chance. You are probably safer in this cell.

Sighing, Sashryn sat down slowly in the middle of the room. Well, I can at least stay calm. Panicking isn't going to get me out of here.

As she sat in thought, she heard what sounded like a fist slamming against a door from the room next to her.

"Don't bother," she called out flatly, "I got a good look at these doors before I got in. My M-13 couldn't punch though them, let alone your fist."

Gerard Kalgard

Well I'll be damned, Gerard thought as he heard a voice call out to him from an adjacent cell. This was the first time anyone had attempted communication with him. Come to think of it, he hadn't heard any sounds coming from that cell for what felt like months. How long had its new owner occupied it? Well, that didn't really matter. Someone was willing to speak with him, and that would provide at least a temporary distraction.

"Heh. You must be new here if you're commenting on someone banging on the door. Trust me, I haven't entertained the thought of escape in ages. Doesn't mean I don't occasionally try to break my hands out of boredom or to assure myself I'm still alive. You better get used to it. This place is designed to carry as much sound as possible. In part, it helps keep the prisoners in line by making the guards sound bigger and allowing screams to echo around the complex, and in part as an extra security measure."

He thought a minute on how long-winded that was, only to disregard it as a symptom of not having the ability to speak to a living thing in a small eternity. Still, he didn't want the conversation to end so abruptly, so he followed up with the most generic ice breaker prisoners had available.

"So, what are you in for?"

It then occurred to him that if she asked him this question, he likely wouldn't have given a real answer. He didn't care though. Talk was talk, nothing more. Nothing they said truly mattered in the long run, seeing as how they would likely end up dead or sold sooner or later.

Aashryn Veletor

The man's comment about hurting himself to make sure he was alive caused a shiver to run down Sashryn's spine. Is that what they'll do? Leave me here to rot, to go mad from confinement? Well, at least I'll have someone to talk to.

"Would you actually believe me if I told you? Hmph, whatever. Why not? I'm in for attempted murder, or more specifically, assassination. You?"

The woman wasn't quite sure why she decided to tell the truth. Not that there was any reason not to. Besides, if she was gonna be a here a while, she may as well not spend the time trying to maintain a lie.

Mass Effect: Terminus Empty
PostSubject: Re: Mass Effect: Terminus   Mass Effect: Terminus EmptyFri Oct 04, 2013 12:56 am

Harus
Around this time of day, Harus would normally be found in one of the many bars of Omega, enjoying a good drink. However, today was most definitely not a normal day, as he was currently on board a shuttle with two strangers, a Salarian and a Turian, and en route to some prison in the arse end of Terminus for unexplained reasons. However, the Batarian had been partially inebriated when he'd accepted the job, and the pay was good, so there was not much he could do about his current situation.

Luckily, the Salarian chose this moment to reveal a few more details regarding the job without actually telling them anything important, so at least Harus had a vague idea of what to do upon landing. With that over and done with, the Batarian braced himself for a potentially messy landing upon hearing his employer's warning. Now all that remained was the waiting, something Harus had never been quite fond of. In order to pass the time, he briefly checked over his equipment. His shotgun, pistol, grenades, and the wrist-mounted device made to fire razor-edged blades in a manner reminiscent of a shotgun blast were all present and in excellent condition. Wonderful.

He had not heard any loud complaints so far, so he took it as a good sign. For a quick crew them seemed to be on the more professional level. He thank lady luck which had never steered him wrong that for once he had hired mercenaries that did not whine or seem unblooded. He did good with such a short time frame.

He hoped they survived the crash.

Elvis was not a good pilot, he would have told the rest of the kids back there but he did not need them to bug out before it even began so he kept that a secret. He could get the bird up and going that's for sure, but landing was never his strong suit, so he would use that weakness as an advantage, true to STG style. Seeing as he described this as a "Smash & Grab" The shuttle would be providing the smash. Thanks to a old friend he had obtained a simple layout of the prison and pin pointed a structural weak point, so that when they did crash, it would not collapse the Shuttle like a tin can. If they were lucky they would survive, if they were really lucky they would crash close to ...her....cell block. After seeing is she is alive or dead, they would have to fight their way through a pissed off security detail to their own landing pad. Which by that point he would call in the auto-piloted shuttle.

He chuckled as they closed in at the point of no return. The Warden's face made him laugh almost hysterically, as he ran back into his office with the nice big window after manically trying to stuff his package back into his pants. he flicked on the com channel one last time, "HOLD ON TIGHT BOYS, WE ARE GOING IN HOT. IF WE SURVIVE, FOLLOW ME!"

With that, and ignoring any questions or protests....He plowed the Shuttle straight through......

Ken'ara nar Usela

The last couple of days had been boring. At least compared to the days before. Stealing that nice fat sack of credits from the warlord right before reprogroming one of his computers to send a shipment of arms to his old employer. It had been a sweet gig. Though he did not count on the warlord just installing new anti-aircraft guns just outside his complex, that made getting away in a stolen shuttle rather tricky. Or in his case not at all.

He sighed, the only thing interesting was the conversation he had with the prisoner in the adjacent cell. He shifted, his eyes looking over they few gages still working in his HUD. Most had been disabled by that Bosh'tet of a warden.
He leaned back, but was suddenly tossed about as he felt the whole prison shake.
"I take it that's the 'distraction' she had mentioned, time to go to work." he said as he stood up and walked over to the glass door. He tapped it a few times with his two fingered hand, looking for the right place. He found what he was looking for around the center of the glass. Yes these things could stop a high powered slug at close range, but one thing about glass like this is that it had a weakness to sonic waves. He leaned in, getting his vocal unit as close as he could. He would only have one shot at this, with out his omni-tool he would not be able to fix the damage this would do to the vocal unit, and he would not be able to do this again until it was fixed.

"Time to play a tune." using the key phrase, the vocal unit switched to a setting he had set up a long time ago. He waited a moment, then blew a loud whistle. He kept it up for thirty second. At first it didn't seem to be working, but slowly the glass started to crack. Until finnaly it shatered like, well like glass. He stepped out of his cell, giving his back a good long strech before he took off down the hall. He heared the sounds of footsteps, but they were heading away from him, probably off to deal with whatever made that exsplosion.  He grinned under his mask, they were making this too easy.
He turned a corner and saw the door he had been looking for, the security point for this ward, that room controlled all the doors on this level.

He moved to the door as quickly and stealthily as he could, and he was very good at that. Standing to the side of the door he knocked three times and waited. The door opened, a Turian guard sticking his head out, only to find himself looking up at the ceiling as Ken grabbed him by the wrist, and gave him a wicked cross to the jaw line. Stepping over the body Ken made his way inside the room. He looked around, no lock up for his gear in here, however...
He walked over to the controls and grinned. He fiddled with the controls for a moment, and was rewarded by the sound of all the doors in the area opening.
"Now things get interesting, better go check in on my new employer." He said as he left the control room. All that was left was get to the lock up, grab his stuff and get off this rock, What could go wrong?

Kiares

“Finally.” Kiares muttered when she felt her cell shake. And while she usually wasn’t one to believe in best case scenarios, she strongly suspected that a certain explosion loving maniac of a Salarian was responsible. How annoying. She hated to owe people. She then heard her former conversation partner do something, and then footsteps distancing themselves from her cell. Now if he didn’t talk to her for the sake of not wasting precious time like a professional, instead of abandoning her, the day would be perfect.

The first person she did see was one of the prison guards (Turian) passing her cell as he hurried through the corridor, presumably to meet up with the rest of the staff.

Then the doors opened.

Smirking, Kiares jumped to her feet, for the time being remaining in her cell, listening carefully. As she expected, soon automatic fire and pained screams could be heard. Apparently, the guard had decided that it would be safer to put the prisoners down permanently instead of relying on their goodwill to not attack him.

Perfect.
“HEY! Beak face! Come here and I’ll rip of your headplates!”

Saying that, she reached forward with her arms so that her shackled hands were now poking out of the cell and into the corridor.

Right away, she received an answer through automatic gunfire aimed at her direction. After two impacts, she drew back her hands. Lo and behold, it had worked. This prison was so cheap, its guards carried rifles that couldn’t shoot through anti-biotic shackles, and said shackles only needed a few impacting rounds to stop supressing her power.
________________________________________________________________________________
The turian prison guard thanked the spirits that this particular corridor hadn’t been all that filled, allowing him to easily incapacitate the three criminals getting out of their cells. But now there was this last one that had just insulted him. He had hoped to be done with that one after he shot… whatever had poked out of the cell, it had all gone too fast to see clearly. But seeing how small those cells were, there was a high chance of at least some part of a collapsed body reaching into the hallway, and he really didn’t want a prisoner out for his blood specifically at his back.
So he cautiously approached the cell, warily not to be surprised by potential inmates of other cells he might have overlooked. Once he had reached his target, he jumped forward, took aim and saw….
Nothing. Except for an empty cell, that was. Perplexed, he moved closer to investigate.
_______________________________________________________________________________
Kiares meanwhile had made use of the fact that these cells were so small, as currently, she was quite literally stuck at the ceiling. Since the cell was far more taller than it was broad, in case it had to contain larger species like Krogans, even with the shackles still attached to her hand she had easily been able to climb up through going horizontal, press her feet against one wall and her shackled hands against the opposite wall.

When the trigger happy guard poked his nose inside her cell, just as he was about to look up, she let herself fall. Before her feet touched the ground, her shackled hands smashed down on his right arm.

Broken bone.

The guard screamed out in shock more than in pain, his now useless hand dropping the rifle. Before he could react, what had mutilated his arm was now smacked into his chest.

Fractured chest-plate.

As he stumbled backwards, the asari easily performed a leg-sweep, causing him to fall on his back. He tried reaching for a pistol with his healthy hand, but before he could reach the weapon, a blue foot stomped down on it.

Two broken fingers.

She hated doing that barefoot with Turians, their scaly hide was unpleasantly hard, but now was not the time to show discomfort. Keeping her foot on top of the mutilated hand, she calmly asked:
“Where is the nearest shuttle bay, and where do you store the belongings of the prisoners?"

Her only answer were a few very inventive turian swear words.
Sighing, she brought down her shackled hands on his head.

Shattered skull. Should have worn a helmet.

Quickly scanning the vicinity for other threats and finding none, she retreated back into her cell, closed her eyes and concentrated. Shortly, her entire body was glowing blue. Once she had created the barrier, she directed all of it towards her hands. The glow left most of her body to gather there, growing ever brighter. Then, after a few seconds, the shackles opened with the protesting screech of ripping metal, and fell down next to the Turian corpse with a clank.

Aaaahhhh! The simple act of wriggling your fingers after so much time was bliss.

Craning her neck, she kneeled down and picked up the guards rifle and pistol. While she herself didn’t have all that much use for them, it would be a nice gift for any potential allies she might find here.

Thusly armed, she walked off towards where her cellmate next door had gone off too.

Gerard Kalgard

Gerard wasn't one to volunteer information to a stranger, but seeing how little difference it would make, he figured it wouldn't be the worst thing in the universe.

"Working for a human supremist organization in the most volatile system known to man," he replied with dryness that could be construed as sarcasm.

At that point, the ground in the cell began to shake violently, causing Gerard to fall on his left arm.

"What in God's name was that?" he muttered.

His imagination was allowed to run for a moment, naturally giving him ideas about the thing he wanted most: escape.

"By any chance, might those be friends of yours?"

Fehln Davris

He studied his apparent partner for this mission as he began to go over his own weapons. The mere fact that he was making sure his own weapons were ready was proof enough right now that he wasn't some unblooded mercenary. They always thought they were going to be big shots, the ones that would become the best, they were little better than meat shields in all honesty. Not a bad thing by any means, but Fehln preferred having people who actually knew what they were doing so he didn't have to worry about dealing with running more than lining up his next shot. The fact that he had a shotgun with him just further cemented the fact that he was going to be the one to take most of their fire, the closest target is always the most obvious, the farthest only became the bigger threat when he started dropping your friends faster than you could pull the trigger.

When the shuttle crashed into the prison, he felt that he should have seen it coming in retrospect, a smash and grab on a prison of course would have involved something like this, armed visitors weren't exactly welcome in prisons. Which was the first mistake you made Kuril, right behind trying to make the commander your next big payment, he mused as he unstrapped himself and started towards the door, finding that the shuttle crash had upset his balance quite a bit. He managed to right himself before he reached the door though, opening it and stepping out to find three guards coming towards the shuttle, their assault rifles raised.

They turned their focus to him once he was in full view, and raised his pistol in return, his scope eye already singling out the one leading the other two. The guards unleashed a storm of bullets as he fired at the lead guard, who stumbled back as the shot hit his helmet, only to be dropped by a second bullet that Fehln fired before taking cover behind the shuttle. "You can join the fun any time now you two!" he shouted to his two team mates as he fired back at the remaining two guards, trying his best to line up shots by memory while his shields recharged. This was no hunt, but it felt good to get back to work.

Ken'ara nar Usela

After dealing with a rather cross pair of human guards Ken turned the corner heading back to his cell. He pulled back quickly as he noticed a trigger happy Turian hosing down anyone who stepped out of their tiny boxes. He thought for a moment, his stealth model was still offline and it was a long narrow hallway, no way to sneak up on him. The only weapon on Ken was this Dinky pistol he took off one of the guards. He heard the guard open fire at the sound of someone speaking, though it was to far to hear what was said. Ken waited a moment, after hearing a thump he spun around the corner, pisol level and ready to fire.
Only to see a couple of dead prisoners, a battered guard on the ground, and a rather well built Asari woman. Was that Kiares? She turned and started to walk in his direction. He sighed, eyeing her rifle. If this was not Kiares then he was probably about to get shot, if it was, well hopefully there would be less of him getting shot. He stepped up into the light, Keeping his pistol up but not pointed at her as he raised his other hand.
"Kiar--bttz" keelah... Seems like his vocal unit gave out. He tried speaking again but only got more static. Well, he hoped that she had heard him, and was indeed Kiares. Otherwise things were about to get dicey.

Kiares

The asari raised a sceptic eyebrow. A Quarian. And here she thought all of those were busy rebuilding their long lost home world, creating an utopia while doing kinky stuff with their old synth servants, if certain rumours were to be believed. Apparently this one got thrown out of paradise. Or he was one of those extremists who refused to work with A.I.s she’d heard about.

In any case, the fact that he hadn’t immediately opened fire at her, as well as him saying something that started with K, before something in his mask appeared to break down, indicated that this might be her cell neighbour, and also the reason for why her door opened. In that case…
“Wanna be a toothpick?”

If it indeed was her neighbour, and thusly her newest minion, he’d get that reference. In any case, his reaction to it would decide if she’d throw him a rifle, or slammed him into next week with a Biotic charge.

Sashryn Velentor

Human supremest group? I wonder which one... thought Sashryn to herself, before she was interrupted by a violent shaking of the building. A flash of hope sprang into her mind as she realized it could be a prison break. And to think, she had only just arrived.

"I don't have friends." She remarked to her new acquaintance, "But I doubt that rings true for all of the prisoners here. Let's just hope they are kind enough-" She was cut off by the wonderful sight of her cell door opening. "-to let us out."

Grinning dryly, she peeked her head out to see a Turian guard open fire on a group of escapees. Well, desperate times called for desperate measures. She reached out her cuffed hands and called out to the guard, in her best confused, unintelligent voice.

"Mr. Guard, sir! There seems to be a problem with my door!"

The guard turned in her direction and leveled his rifle, shouting as he walked closer. "Get back in your cell, inmate!"
"But sir look! The door is wide open!" She exclaimed, stepping out and facing the cell.
"I said get back in the cell!" The guard roared as he ran up to her, ready to shoot if she didn't comply. But he got just a little too close, and Sashryn ducked as she spun around, avoiding the shots fired. She knocked his gun to the side, slip under his arm, and jumped onto his back, slipping her cuffs around his neck in an attempt to strangle him. Unfortunately she had misjudged his strength, and he soon had her on her back on the floor, with his rifle aimed at her head. If someone didn't intervene, she might well be shot, her escape cut short.

Gerard Kalgard

Gerard stared wide-eyed at the open door. Here it was; freedom was just within his grasp! And yet, he knew that it would be far from easy to obtain it. The base would go on full alert. Hopefully, he could blend with other prisoners and make his way out in the chaos. If not, the guards would probably shoot him down.

His thoughts and plans were interrupted by a commotion coming from the adjacent cell. While he didn't really care what happened to the woman he was speaking to, this was the best opportunity to dispatch of the guard. Otherwise, he might get shot in the back trying to run. That would be a real downer of an ending. Quite anticlimactic really.

And so the middle aged man rushed out of his cell to see the guard on top of a slim, young woman. Acting more out of instinct that thought, he barreled down on the Turian's head and grabbed at his arm. In response, the guard pulled down the trigger. Thankfully, the few slight movements made him unload on the ground next to Sashryn's head, rather than blasting her skull open. With no thermal clips remaining, the Turian decided to use the weapon as a bludgeon. He hit Gerard square in the jaw, knocking him off temporarily. This did, however, make him vulnerable to a counterattack by Sashryn if she were quick enough.

Sashryn Velentor

Sashryn turned her head to the side as the bullets hit the floor next to her head. The guard was out of ammunition, so he used the rifle like a club and struck the man who had saved her. Leaping up, she grabbed the gun and, before the guard could react, rammed the front of the barrel into his face. There was enough force behind the blow to stun him, cause him to release the rifle, and fall backwards. Grabbing the weapon by it's barrel, she swung it over her head and used it's weight to bring it down on the guard's head. Hard. After a few blows, his skull was shattered. Relaxing somewhat, Sashryn dropped the gun and looked at the body.

"The fool wasn't even carrying a sidearm, let alone extra ammunition." She turned to look at the older man who had saved her. "Can you fight?"

Elvis Rioth

After switching on the one windshield wiper that still worked to clean off the turian blood that obscured his vision, he could see well enough to know his gamble had worked so far. He climbed out of his seat and grabbed his Tempest and walked to the back. The turian was already securing the area, quick that one, and strode to the cover opposite him. He activated his tech-armor and proceeded to take a nice look at what they were facing. The shields absorbed most of the shots as he took a glance outside, not even flinching as the shot pieces of metal evaporated in front of him.

He edged back into his cover, looked over at the Turian, "Two guards, probably the best one's here, as the Warden would want them close by." he then proceeded to grin and step out once more. He held out one arm as his Omni-tool came to life. A noticeable zap of information went out, and one of the guard's shields dropped. Elvis proceeded to being up his sub-machine gun, known for being one of the fastest rounds per minute. He unloaded a whole clip of fifty in his chest, shells flying through all portions of the poor guard. By the time the guard fell over, Elvis was back in cover. He looked over to the Turian and the Batarian. "Your turn to share with the class!" he said with a cackle.

PostSubject: Re: Mass Effect: Terminus   Mass Effect: Terminus EmptyFri Oct 04, 2013 4:59 pm

Kayne

A loud impact shook the facility. Some time afterwards, the doors opened. The lean-built human remained seated in the corner, entirely motionless. Almost a minute passed, and the doors had not closed again, nor had a guard inspected his cell. The sounds of gunfire and screams also became audible, some distant and some of the sounds of conflict much closer. It was becoming clear that this was the time his patience would give way to. The previously still form of the pale, slender human finally showed movement, his head raising slightly, his eyes shifting their view to look out of the newly-opened cell and into the corridor.

Spoiler:

Following a few more moments of patient stillness, he quietly stood, hearing the sounds of conversation as he lingered just inside the threshold of his cell. The voices sounded hurried, but not authoritative, rehearsed, or frantic. It was unlikely then that they were guards. Standing upright and shifting his neck along with his other joints, the lean human prisoner would step from his cell once he had heard the conversation subside, and into the corridor where hopefully the majority of the prisoners had departed.

Messy black hair cast over his features and his posture somewhat hunched despite standing upright, the wrist-shackled human would quietly shamble down the corridor. Barring the possibility of running into the potentially-dangerous prisoners he had heard, his first priority would be to locate where his equipment was stored as well as a means of removing his suppressors.

Gerard Kalgard

Gerard rubbed his chin, angry that he let himself be struck by the Turian. He glanced up at his new companion, wiping the blood from his lips. Ordinarily, he would've paid more attention to the young lady's form and face, but this was hardly the time or place for such things.

"Yeah, I'll be fine. Let's go. I saw a guard heading that way," he pointed to the end of the corridor opposite of the way they came in, "so we can assume that if there is a rescue squad, they'll be in that direction. I don't know about you, but I'd rather take my chances with the fools bold enough to break our asses out than with the guards at the other exit."

“Agreed. I'll watch our backs."

As they moved through the corridor, Gerard noticed a lone figure at the end of the hall. From what he could make out, he was armored and armed, likely another guard. The silhouette slowly moved closer, checking each cell. He stopped once when he found one occupied. A loud blast echoed through the chamber and a corpse fell out.

"Not friendly. We need a plan," he muttered.

“Ambush?”

"Sounds good. Take that cell. I'll be in the one directly across from it."

"Done. Be quick."

As Sashryn took her position, Gerard peaked out at the guard, looking for anything he could use. His plan honestly much good at all. One of them would probably die, but the other would make it out. Then it hit him. Did he want to die so a stranger could go free? An assassin at that?

He thought about it for a minute, until his attention was drawn away when he saw what weapon the guard was using, along with the reason he was moving so slowly. It was an M - 22 Eviscerator. This weapon was deadly, but its limited clip size provided an interesting opportunity.

After every kill, the Turian stopped to reload. It was a necessity really. A three shot clip won't get you far if you don't reload often. The last thing he wanted was to be rushed by two opponents with only one bullet left. And that's exactly the situation Gerard was determined to get him in.

First, however, he needed to make sure his comrade knew what he was planning. Shouting it out would be counterproductive, so he took a gamble. He made hand signals, following Alliance procedure. Translated, they read, "One shot, don't move. Second shot, go in."

The woman shook her head at the signals, clearly not understanding.

In reply, Gerard rolled his eyes disapprovingly. He held up one finger, then subsequently made a gun out of his index and middle fingers. He made an upward jerking motion to simulate firing, followed by flattening his hand and motioning toward the ground. Then he held up two fingers and repeated the process, except instead of flattening his hand, he pointed forward.

The motions still didn't mean much to the young woman, until she looked at the guard and noticed what weapon he was using. Nodding to the man, she backed up into the cell as much as she could, ready spring out quickly.

The guard finally got up to a cell two units away from where Gerard was positioned. Without was another prisoner. The poor sod lunged at the guard, only to be blasted by the M - 22. The former Cerberus operative took that as his signal. In a quick motion, he popped out of the cell and made a shout akin to a battlecry. Naturally, the walls echoed the noise, making him sound closer than he was. Out of fear, the guard turned and blasted the position where he thought his assailant would be, but Gerard had pulled back to the safety of his cell after his taunting.

The guard cautiously moved forward, weapon raised. Gerard surprised him, however, by not running out, but rolling out of his cell. This surprise was not as effective as he had hoped, however, as the Turian quickly readjusted his sights and shot. Agony seared through Gerard's right arm as metal shards ripped through his flesh. He fell backwards. The guard smiled and planted his foot on Gerard's chest. He began to slowly reload his shotgun for the kill.

Unfazed by the echoing shotgun blasts, the assassin waited until the guard was facing away from her to move. She ran up to him quickly, and silently slipped his sidearm from it's holster.

"Sniper at 6 o'clock." She warned casually. The Turian turned to look straight down the barrel of his own gun. He didn't even hear the shot.

"You've been shot." The young woman muttered as she crouched next to her temporary ally. After tearing off the long sleeve of her prison uniform, she pulled his up to expose the wound. As she tied it up using her sleeve, she explained, "You won't be much good in a fight if you keep bleeding unchecked." Standing back up after finishing the makeshift bandage, she weighed the pistol in her hand.

"A Predator, if I'm not mistaken. I think I might keep a hold of this."

“And I’ll take the Eviscerator,” remarked Gerard, struggling to his feet. “Nice shot by the way.”

He got up and picked up the M – 22. Looks like scaly-arse didn’t save much ammo. The gun only had enough thermal clips left for six more shots. He would have to be careful. Speaking of careful, his arm was still in bad shape, despite the bandage. He figured he’d be alright, but he would kill for some medigel right now to ease the pain if nothing else.

“Let’s keep moving.”

He talked more to himself than to Sashryn. It was doubtable that she needed any more motivation to get out than he did.

Sashryn Velentor

The young woman couldn't help but smirk at his compliment on her shot.

"Please. It was point blank and he walked right into it. I couldn't have missed. Now, you get me a sniper rifle, then you can start complimenting me on my shots." She commented as they walked down the corridor. What she wouldn't give for her old rifle. They had obviously confiscated it, but beyond that she had no idea where it was. Too bad, she spent a good amount of cash for that gun, and it had been worth every bit. As they approached a corner, she motioned for the wounded man to stand back as she peeked around the edge carefully.

"To more guards," she scowled, turning back to the man, "Both are coming this way, and they seem to be carrying rifles, though I can't tell what types."
